At this Saturday's Premier League game against Hull City, we are proud to host two local Olympians, who have again done East Lancashire proud in Rio.
Clitheroe’s Samantha Murray finished ninth in the Modern Pentathlon in Brazil, two years after being crowned World Champion.
Samantha, pictured above, was also here four years ago after winning a Silver medal in the discipline, in what was Team GB’s last medal at the London games.
Joining Samantha is Burnley-born Sophie Hitchon, who won a Bronze medal in Rio in the Hammer with a new British record.
Sophie, a former junior World champion, was also a finalist in London in 2012, won Bronze at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, was fourth in the World Championships last year and also finished fourth in the European Championships earlier this year.
Please join us in celebrating their achievements as the Olympians are presented to the crowd at half time.
At our next home game against Watford, we are also delighted to be hosting gold medallist Steven Burke and silver medallist Jon Schofield.
