Lifting 'The Lady’ was a perfect way to end a great season insists Burnley forward Sam Vokes.
The Welshman, who scored 16 goals in the campaign - including the goal that sealed promotion back to the Premier League - looks back on a memorable season.
Vokes said: “It’s a perfect way, to end a great season.
“It’s been a fantastic season for me and the lads, and it’s a brilliant feeling to get us back up into the Premier League as Champions.
“It’s great the way we did it obviously, clinching promotion at home against QPR in front of all our fans, and it was nice for them – who didn’t make it to Charlton – to celebrate with us winning the league at the Town Hall.
Vokes, 26, was in the 2013/14 promotion squad that finished runners-up to now Premier League Champions Leicester City, however the forward is delighted the club has now gone one better.
Vokes added: “It’s such an amazing feeling to do it as Champions, which is what everyone in the squad were striving for.
This is a fantastic club with a great group of lads and this is no less than the staff and players deserve.
The Wales international missed the remaining few fixtures of the 2013/14 promotion campaign, and it was a fitting moment for the Southampton-born striker to clinch promotion this time around.
Vokes said: “It’s just great to be back on the pitch and doing what I can for the team.
“To score the winner against QPR, in a game we knew we had to win, just capped off what has been a magic year for me.
