Burnley striker Sam Vokes has been named in the Wales squad for the upcoming European Championships
Vokes, who scored the goal to earn the Clarets promotion back to the Premier League, caps off a memorable season with inclusion in Chris Coleman’s final 23-man squad.
The 26-year-old could now have the honour of becoming the first Burnley player to appear in the European Championships when Wales kick off their Group B campaign against Slovakia on Saturday, June 11.
Wales’ group games also pit them against England, who could have Tom Heaton in their squad, on Thursday, June 16 and Russia on Monday, June 20.
This summer is the first time Wales have qualified for a major international tournament since the 1958 World Cup, and their first ever appearance at the Euros.
Congratulations to Sam, from everyone at Burnley Football Club.
