Ben Mee hailed a ‘different promotion’ with the Clarets after tasting success in the Sky Bet Championship for a second time in three years.
The defender was part of the 2013/14 squad that won promotion alongside Leicester City in second place.
And after proving to be integral to the side again, this time at centre-back, Mee was delighted to have achieved it in a different way.
“It’s different because we’ve played teams at their best every time as we’re a big fish in this league now.
“Last time we were maybe a bit more of an underdog so it was definitely a different challenge for us.
“To do what we’ve done and how consistent we’ve been it is really satisfying to get it done.”
The close connection between fans and players was there for all to see at the full-time whistle, as Clarets spilt on to the pitch to celebrate.
Mee added: “It’s fantastic and we’ve worked really hard to get to this point. To finally seal it and get promotion was a great day.
“The atmosphere was brilliant and we got mobbed at the end. I think I got punched about 20 times in the head with people trying to grab us but the scenes were brilliant.
“We could tell with the cheers around the ground what was going on before the game and in the first 20 minutes I think we were wanting to do it too much and get the goal straight away.
“Vokesy has come up with a great header and I’m really pleased for him because of what he has been through with his injuries to get that goal.”
