Burnley goalkeeper Tom Heaton has been included in Roy Hodgson’s final 23-man England squad for this summer’s European Championships.
The Clarets’ skipper made his international debut last week in the friendly game against Australia.
In doing so, the Chester-born stopper became the first Burnley player to earn an England cap since Martin Dobson in 1974.
And Heaton, who has represented England from Under 16 all the way through to full international honours, could now be the first Burnley player to make an appearance for England at a major tournament since goalkeeper Colin McDonald played all four games in the 1958 FIFA World Cup.
England kick off their group games against Russia on Saturday, June 11, followed by Wales on Thursday, June 16, and Slovakia on Monday, June 20.
Congratulations to Tom, from everyone at Burnley Football Club.
