Chairman's Notes: QPR

3 May 2016

Chairman Mike Garlick on a whirlwind season

Good afternoon everyone and a warm welcome back for the final game of the 2015/16 Championship season.

The campaign has put us through every emotion possible and continues to excite and enthral as we head for the final straight.

And we know, going into today’s game with Queens Park Rangers, that two more wins would guarantee us Premier League football next season.

Easier said than done, but I am sure we’d all have taken this scenario back on that sunny August afternoon at Leeds back in August.

As Chairman, I’d like to thank each and every one of our supporters for their backing throughout the season.

Our season ticket sales continue to be strong and our vociferous away followings have been a constant source of inspiration. The sight of over 5,500 of you packed behind the goal at Preston North End 10 days ago was a sight to behold and the noise you made was a real spur for the players.

As we near the end of the season, I’d also like to offer my thanks, on behalf of the Board of Directors, to Chief Executive, Dave Baldwin and all the club staff, both full and part time, who work so tirelessly behind the scenes to keep things ticking along seamlessly.

As you are aware from our recent financial results, the club is in excellent financial health as we move forwards.

The money we will receive from Liverpool for Danny Ings is, of course, not included in our latest accounts, but I am convinced that our net spend this season is firmly in the black.

That represents sensible transfer dealings and is further proof that our prudent business model works in a game now awash with money.

Now, we just need two more performances that money can’t buy to ensure we are in even better shape moving forwards.

Please give the lads every ounce of your support today. It really could make the difference.
