Sam Vokes was left frustrated after the Clarets were forced to settle for a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Vokes’ netted his 14th goal of the season when he met Barton’s inch-perfect cross and nodded an unstoppable header past Ikeme.
But late on there was disappointment when Danny Batth headed home Nathan Byrne’s corner in stoppage time to deny the league leaders all three points.
Vokes said: “It’s a killer blow in the last minute. The lads are sat in there a bit disappointed but bigger picture stuff, we’re on a great run.
“Over the last 15 games we’ve picked up some massive points and today was frustrating but it’s another point gained.
“We’ve got two weeks off now and then we’ll look to go down to Brighton full of confidence and win the game.”
The Wales international striker has now netted 10 goals in his last 14 appearances in all competitions.
And he says the Clarets will be ready to go again after the international break when they face fellow promotion chasers Brighton at the AMEX Stadium.
“It was obviously nice when it hit the back of the net, it’s a great ball from Joey. I mentioned to him at half-time if he gets in that position it’s a great one for me to attack and he did just that.
“I felt we were due that because we’d dominated the game possession wise but that’s where the frustration comes from because we haven’t finished the job.
“Brighton will be a tough place to go as anywhere is in the Championship but we go there full of confidence after the run we’ve been on.
“The lads will go and refresh now for two weeks and then look forward to the big game.”
