Chairman's Notes: Wolves

22 March 2016

Chairman Mike Garlick on a club moving forward, on and off the pitch

Good afternoon everyone and welcome back to Turf Moor.

A very warm welcome to all the visiting directors from Wolverhampton Wanderers, a club like ourselves firmly embedded in in the local community down in the Midlands.

And I’d like to start by offering my congratulations to departmental head Neil Hart and his team for Burnley FC in the Community’s scheme being shortlisted for this year’s Football League awards.

We are the only North West club to be nominated, which is testament to the hard work put in by our staff in the past 12 months.

We have always been proud of our town and its people and looked to engage wherever possible, but the club has made great strides forward in this field a short space of time and continues to go from strength to strength.

We now have a community department that is again worthy of shouting about.

We also, whisper it quietly, have a team worth shouting about!

Six successive wins is a fabulous achievement by Sean and the players and the plaudits continue following Sean’s well deserved Manager of the Month award for February.

Another win today, and it could well be back-to-back awards!

However, let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. I think we all know how tough this league can be and you can never take anything for granted.

We’re getting towards the nitty gritty and one of the playing staff’s great strengths has been to focus on each game as it comes along.

I’m sure that mantra will continue until we know our fate.

In the meantime, why not get excited? These are good times for the club and it would be folly of my not to mention the upcoming season ticket deadline.

Today could well be the last opportunity for many to pop into the ticket office and secure your seat at early bird prices for 2016/17.

But don’t forget that our direct debit scheme – which comes without any additional fees of charges - can be utilised online and there’s no need to delay, as the first of your 12 equal, annual payments doesn’t come out of your account until April.

We feel this is a season ticket package that caters for everyone and, should we achieve our goals this season, would make it one of, if not the cheapest ticket in the Premier League.

We look forward to, and thank you for your continued support.

Enjoy the game and Happy Easter

Mike
