Stephen Ward says there is positivity amongst the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of their final Group E game against Italy.
After defeat to Belgium in their last Euro 2016 outing, Ireland know they must record a victory over Antonio Conte’s men to stand a chance of progressing to the last 16.
But Ward, who became the first Claret to appear at a European Championship against Belgium, says the squad are ready and raring to go for the crunch clash at the Stade de Montbauron.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, he said: “We've a lot of positivity in the squad. We are ready for Wednesday and know what we have to do. We are raring to go.
“The manager is very good at picking us up and reminding us how we've got here and what we've achieved.
“We've got talented players. We are disappointed with the other night. We'll go out, give it everything and hopefully get a result.”
