Due to the large turnout at our final trials in July, Burnley FC in the Community have secured 15 more places for our Shadow Youth Team.
We will be holding open training sessions for any interested players on the 11th and 12th August from 11-2.30pm.
These sessions are also open to those who were unable to attend our trials earlier this season.
Our Shadow Youth Team offers players, aged 16-18 years old, the chance to play against professional clubs such as Chelsea, Liverpool and Birmingham City and receive elite-level tutoring within the UCFB facilities at Turf Moor.
At the end of the two-year programme, graduates from the programme will also qualify with a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Sport and will have the chance to be scouted by the Burnley FC Academy.
The open training sessions, held at Nelson and Colne College, will give prospective players an opportunity to chat with current players who have completed their first year of the two-year programme, along with the new intake of 16/17 Shadow Youth Team recruits.
If selected for the team, players will combine academic studies with practical football experience, regularly playing in competitive matches and interacting with the Burnley FC first team.
Players are encouraged to attend both open training sessions to get to know the existing players and a real taste of life in the Shadow Youth Team!
This is a fantastic opportunity for young people keen to develop their talent on the football pitch and find a route into a career in football coaching, the leisure/sports industry or university.
