Burnley FC in the Community to operate Burnley FC Girls and Ladies

21 July 2016

Burnley FC in the Community have agreed terms with Burnley FC Girls and Ladies to take over operations of the club activities across the region. From this month Burnley FC in the Community will officially work with the girls and ladies’ existing staff and volunteers to increase the quality and improve the efficient operations of the club.

The club, which has 170 players across its numerous teams, will now be embedded within Burnley Football Club and will benefit from the club’s official charity’s expertise, which will grow again as the charity look to appoint a Female Football Development Officer imminently.

Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer of Burnley FC in the Community, said: “By taking over the operations of Burnley FC Girls and Ladies, we are pledging our commitment to grassroots football in the area and to furthering our support of female football in the region. We are delighted with the arrangement which will see us working closely with Burnley FC Girls and Ladies’ coaches and volunteers to develop every aspect of the club. It is a natural fit for the club (BFC Girls and Ladies) to be operated by Burnley FC in the Community and benefit from our strong presence within the town and the Burnley FC fan base.”

The arrangement will provide the teams – that range from U9s to adult ladies – with strong links into match day and Community activities. This will be underpinned with a sustainable, long-term strategy to develop every aspect of the club’s day to day operations.

Justine Lee, Chair of Burnley FC Girls and Ladies, added: “We are very excited to join Burnley FC in the Community as they have a wealth of expertise and experience that all of our players and coaches can benefit from. Not only this, but it is great for grassroots football in Burnley to be involved with a professional, Premier League club and this will allow the female game to grow rapidly within an elite environment.”

A registration evening will be held on the 28th July at the Prairie Sports Village for existing players to register for the upcoming season and further details of this will be announced shortly.
