Sam Vokes has today committed his future to Burnley Football Club by a signing a new three-and-a-half year contract at Turf Moor.
The 26-year-old forward, who has netted five times this season, had 18 months remaining on his current deal.
Vokes contributed 20 goals in the last Championship promotion campaign, but missed the majority of the 2014/15 season after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury in March 2014 against Leicester City.
With that firmly behind him, the Wales international is delighted to have his extend his stay at a place he feels has become a second home.
He said: “It’s great news to sign a new deal, I’m really happy here and to commit my future is a great feeling.
“This is a club that I feel is going to get back where we were last season and being part of the last promotion, I feel the squad we have now has a real chance of that.
“You see where the club is going with a new training ground that is being built and it’s fantastic to be part of the group.
“I really feel at home here now so for the next three and a half years it will be good to kick on.”
“When I moved here the first time around it felt like a great place to be and with the strides the club has made, they’ve showed what it’s about to be involved at Burnley.”
Vokes is now partnering Andre Gray in a Clarets front line that has fired in recent weeks, and he has his sights firmly set on an instant return to the top flight.
He added: “It’s what we all want out of this season, to be back up there for the next few years and that’s what I want to achieve while I’m here.
“The fans, the club and the staff make this a great place to come to work. Andre and the rest of the squad are a good strong unit and I really feel we can make further strides with that.”
