Sam Vokes felt the Clarets 1-0 win over league leaders Hull City was just rewards for a dominant performance.
Vokes struck on 78 minutes to seal all the three points after Allan McGregor spilt Joey Barton’s low drive.
And as they moved within one point of the Tigers in the promotion race, the Welsh international was pleased to end a tough week on a high.
“It’s was a massive win for everybody. It’s been a tough week and we’ve put in two good performances and topped it off today.
“I think we dominated the game from start to finish really. They had a 10-minute spell in the second-half but I don’t think they threatened us too much. That one chance came and we managed to take it.
Reflecting on his winner, he added: “It started off with Scotty down the left and he put a ball in. It came out to Joey who has a great shot on target and I managed to be in and around for the bits.
“Heats mentioned it after the warm-up that the conditions might be difficult and it turned out like that and paid off!
“When it comes out off the keeper that’s where your strikers want to be and it’s a great way to get a goal.”
The win extended the unbeaten run to seven league games and the striker felt they showed signs they can beat anyone in the division ahead of a trip to the Madejski Stadium next Saturday.
“It’s been a great week and we’ve got to keep this roll going now and take it into the games that are coming up.
“We’ve shown it again today that we’ve got enough to beat anyone in this league. We can only affect what we do.
“We’ve had three big games in the space of a week and now we’ve got to prepare for another tough away game at Reading.”
