Say YES to NCS this Spring!

3 February 2016

NCS is back at Burnley FC in the Community!

After the incredible success of the five previous National Citizen Services (NCS) courses, it’s time to kick start things in 2016!

There are 20 places up for grabs this spring, with the programme starting Saturday 9th April and ending Friday 15th April 2016. The scheme is for 16 and 17-year-olds (up to 25 for those with SEN).

NCS brings together young people from different backgrounds and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility. It encourages personal and social development and nurtures important life-skills such as leadership, teamwork and communication.

The cost for the course is just £50 and involves the following:

ADVENTURE – Saturday 9th – Tuesday 12th April. You’ll live with your team at an outdoor activity centre in Culmington Manor, Shropshire. You will be getting to know each other and experiencing the freedom of being away from home with new friends. We’ll place you in a group of 12-15 amazing people and you’ll get the chance to take part in adrenaline-fuelled activities.

FUTURE – Wednesday 13th – Friday 15th April (approximately 9am-3:30pm on a daily basis). Next you will be reunited with your group at Burnley FC, Turf Moor.  You’ll learn some fantastic life skills that make for a killer CV! You will find yourself meeting organisations and important people from your local community, whilst learning about the issues facing them, as well as developing new personal skills.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE –  April/May. You now get the chance to put all the skills and experiences you’ve learnt into practice! As a team, you’ll meet at Burnley FC, Turf Moor on a regular basis, at a time that suits your group. You’ll agree on a social action project that will make a mark on your local community. This is your chance to be part of something amazing – plan your own project, fundraise for it and make it happen! We believe that you and your team have the power to change the world around you, given the respect, tools and opportunities to do so. Go out there and be awesome together…

(NCS is recognised by employers and is a brilliant attribute to any CV. The National Citizen Service is also recognised by UCAS and will help you when applying for university.)
