The Clarets will face a trip to Premier League rivals Sunderland in the third round of the FA Cup.
The tie at the Stadium of Light - the fourth out of the bag in Monday night's draw at the BT Tower in London - will mean a second meeting in a week after the two sides play in the league at Turf Moor on New Year's Eve.
It will be the ninth FA Cup meeting between the clubs but first since 1979, when the Clarets won 3-0 in a fourth-round replay at Roker Park thanks to goals from Paul Fletcher, Billy Ingham and Steve Kindon.
The third-round ties are scheduled to be played over the weekend 6-9 January.
Details of when the game will be played and information on tickets will be released when the club has it.
