George Boyd was delighted with his first goal of the season to take the number of scorers to 11 this season.
Boyd bagged the winner against Bournemouth after Stephen Ward joined him on the scoresheet for the first time in the 3-2 home win over Bournemouth.
And after Jeff Hendrick set the tone for the afternoon with a sensational goal, Boyd expressed his delight that team mates are boosting the goals tally.
He said: “It’s a huge win today. We’ve had a couple of defeats, so we felt it was important to bounce back at home, where we’ve been strong all season.
“A two-goal cushion to see the game out would have been nice, but I felt we deserved the win and we’re showing we can score goals.
“Last time we didn’t score as many as we should, but we’re scoring from everywhere at the minute and it was a fantastic strike from Jeff – and we’ve got Wardy scoring too – so it’s important that everyone chips in, not just the strikers.”
Boyd’s own strike, 15 minutes from time, proved pivotal in denying the Cherries a late revival.
The winger added: “It was a great ball from Andre and that’s one back to my Peterborough days, that shot across the goalkeeper!
“It’s right in the corner and a lovely feeling to get my first of the season.
“I’m off the mark now and hopefully can add more.
We’re only three points off eighth now and I think we can look up not down and hopefully keep building the gap between the bottom three.”
