Sean Dyche says he has a high expectation that Stephen Ward will be fit for Saturday’s Premier League opener against Swansea City.
The left-back returned from the UEFA European Championships with Ireland and suffered a slight hamstring problem ahead of the final pre-season friendly against Real Sociedad.
And Dyche also gave updates on new signing Jon Flanagan and Ashley Barnes at his pre-match press conference.
He said: “He’s had a good week. We felt last week he was in good shape and he’s had a good few days training with us so we’ve got high expectation of him being fit.
“Jon Flanagan is getting fitter and sharper as he gets used to how we work so that is another ongoing situation.
“Ashley Barnes is doing really well and we’ve been delighted with how quickly he’s progressed. I don’t think he’ll figure this weekend but he’s in front of where we thought he might be.”
