Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month Sam Vokes is hoping his award will prove to be a good omen for the Clarets.
The last time the 26-year-old received the accolade was also in March of the 2013/14 promotion season when he netted 22 times in all competitions.
Now the Wales international, who missed that run-in last time due to an injury, has set his sights on continuing a 17-game unbeaten run and staying in pole position.
“As a striker you’re always looking to score goals and help the team as that what it’s all about.
“As a team we’ll look to stay strong as we have done on this massive run we’re on and look to go again.
“We’re top of the pack at the minute and that’s where everyone else wants to be. It’s down to us to stay there and we’ve got six games to prove we deserve to be up there.
“The fans are massive too because our crowd have been brilliant. The knife-edge games, it makes a difference and we need to make Turf Moor a fortress.
“When the crowd get behind us it gives you that extra edge so that can be crucial in the run-in.”
Sean Dyche’s side have drawn the last three games and remain in pole position ahead of the visit of Leeds United in front of the Sky cameras.
And with six games to go, Vokes says there are no nerves as the promotion race intensifies due to the vast experience of players who have ‘been there and done it’ before.
He added: “Leeds will be another tough team coming here and will probably try and stop us playing like the last few teams have done.
“It’s up to us to try and break them down and we know it’s a big game in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
“The lads know what we’re about and the experience we have in the dressing room will count for us massively because there a lot of players we have been there and done it.”
