Burnley’s current 17-game unbeaten Championship sequence is their best in 34 years.
Tuesday’s goalless draw with Cardiff City at Turf Moor ensured the current squad passed the 16-game run established during the Clarets’ promotion to the Premier League two years ago.
The target now is to equal the 20-game run set during the Third Division title-winning campaign of 1981/82, when Brian Miller’s side remained unbeaten in the league between October and March.
Burnley’s best post-War run bridged two seasons, when they established a 22-game unbroken league sequence in six games at the end of the 1971/72 Division Two campaign and a further 16 games at the beginning of the 1972/73 season; a grand total of 22 games.
That therefore remains the post-War target for the current squad, with six games still remaining of the Sky Bet Championship season.
