Are you up for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge?

27 April 2016

Burnley FC in the Community are excited to tell fans about our latest fundraising challenge – an exhilarating trek up The Yorkshire Three Peaks.

Clarets fans are being asked to join us to take on the challenge, which will take place over one fun-packed weekend of the 19th-21st August 2016. This promises to be action-packed and enjoyable for all!

The challenge, which takes on Pen Y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, will see walkers ascend 1532m in 12 hours under the safe guidance of our Walk Leaders to raise funds for Burnley FC in the Community.

As a charity, it costs us over £1 million per year to deliver the projects we do, many of which are free of charge for participants such as the Danny Ings Disability Sport Project and our Extra Time project for the over 50s.

Burnley FC in the Community’s Matt Hargreaves, who will lead the walk said: “This is going to be a great challenge that will take in the magnificent scenery of the Yorkshire Dales and will be a fun, memorable weekend for everyone involved!”

The Yorkshire Three Peaks trek is a perfect challenge for people who have an adventurous spirit and want to push themselves outside their comfort zone. The course will cover 24 miles (almost a marathon, but with three hills!) and so you will need a good, base level of fitness to take part but will receive heaps of moral support on the walk by our dedicated leaders!

As well as guidance on the walk, the £25 registration fee includes a 2-night stay in a local Bunkhouse and limited transport places to and from the challenge.

Marketing and Partnerships Manager Siobhán McNamara added: “All money raised will support our work across the local area, delivering over 30 projects in health, education, social inclusion and sports

"We’re really hopeful that Burnley fans will get on board with fundraising, which really helps people in and around Turf Moor.”

All those who take on the challenge will need to fundraise £175 MINIMUM to take part, all of which will go towards the continued delivery of our life-changing projects in the area.

This is a challenging and fun weekend – not to be missed!
