Striker reflects on his double-salvo against Wigan Athletic...Ntumba Massanka was delighted to extend his rich vein of form in the 3-0 victory over Wigan Athletic in the U21 Premier League Cup.
The 18-year-old netted twice in a resounding victory over the Latics, to make it seven goals in his last five outings.
But the youngster was quick to attribute praise to his Clarets teammates as they progressed to the next round.
“It’s good for the team and for myself as well to boost my confidence. The lads were excellent tonight and it shows that we’re doing well. We’ve had a few new lads in the team.
“I think we’ve moulded well and they’ve settled in really well. I think they’re starting to understand what we’re about and the lads who have been here a while have welcomed them.”
Massanka, who will be hoping to continue his goalscoring run against Liverpool on Thursday, added: “I’d say it’s the best run of form I’ve been in. I think I took my chances well tonight so things are going well for me but it’s about keeping that up now.
“As a young lad you’ve got to keep pushing and going hard every day and hope you get noticed by the gaffer.
“You’ve got to wait for your chance because of the senior lads in the team.
“It’s always really good playing under the lights here and I enjoy the surroundings as it’s different. The game is more competitive as we normally just play friendlies so I enjoyed it.”
