Sean Dyche will make an 11th hour decision on the fitness of Andre Gray ahead of Turf Moor’s weekend clash with Reading.
The Clarets striker limped out of Monday’s goalless draw at Derby County with a hamstring injury.
Scans have now confirmed a minor setback for the club’s record signing, who participated in light training on Thursday.
And Dyche will assess the 24-year-old over the next 24 hours before making a final decision.
He said; “Andre is ok. As we thought after the game, our medical staff were confident that it wasn’t too serious.
“He’s since had a precautionary scan, which many of our players do, and we’re happy that it’s something minor.
“It is just whether Saturday comes too quickly and he is touch and go at the moment.
“He was out on the grass jogging today, so we will make a decision on that tomorrow.
“But these games aren’t for heroes. Cup finals are for heroes, so we’ll have to see how it settles down.”
