Sam Vokes is the focus of the Bolton Wanderers edition of Turf after making history with Wales during the international break.
The Clarets striker also ended a 29-year wait for a victory at the Reebok Stadium (now Macron Stadium) in the 2013/14 season last time we met with today’s opponents.
And having helped Wales qualify for their first major tournament since 1958, he says it is a great squad to have been part of during qualification.
“It’s massive. You can see the buzz around Wales at the minute with the home games that we’ve had and the atmosphere it has generated – it’s fantastic to be a part of the history we’ve made now.
“Andorra was a great occasion to be involved in on the night and you always look forward to playing in those type of games.”
“When Gary Speed started he was fantastic in laying the foundations for success and when Chris Coleman took over in unfortunate circumstances, he not only kept that going but put his own stamp on it and it’s really worked.”
This week’s edition also gives you the chance to win a signed, unique Sam Vokes home shirt. One of the copies will contain a special voucher with details of how to claim your prize.*
Elsewhere, Tendayi Darikwa reflects on the faces and places that helped shape his career in ‘Walking In My Shoes’, Fredrik Ulvestad goes under the social spotlight to answer your questions and we’ve all your usual favourites.
