Sean Dyche will make an 11th hour decision on the fitness of George Boyd ahead of Tuesday’s trip to Nottingham Forest.
The winger, who has been a virtual ever-present since arriving at Turf Moor, injured an ankle in the weekend win over Bolton at Turf Moor.
And Dyche will run the rule over the wide-man on Tuesday morning before the squad travel to the City Ground.
He said: “Fortunately, we think George just has a roll of the ankle. I did suggest on Saturday that’s what we thought and that’s the case.
“That should, in theory, mean it’s not serious. He hasn’t trained today but he still has a chance for tomorrow and we’ll give him every chance to be fit, so we’ll find out more in the morning
“It’s touch and go, but other than that we are in good shape."
Boyd’s injury could signal a return to the squad for Fredrik Ulvestad, who recovered from an ankle injury himself to take the bench at Rotherham United two weeks ago, only to miss out on the 18 last weekend.
And the gaffer revealed the Norwegian midfielder, along with long-term absentees Kevin Long and Dean Marney, are all now on the road to recovery.
He said: “Freddie is in advance of the others, in that he’s played a couple of 90 minutes in the reserves.
“Kevin is in a games programme and Dean is just behind them after having a couple of niggles that have slowed him down, but he’s back in full training now.”
We will have a full preview from Sean Dyche and defender Ben Mee here tomorrow morning.
And if you can’t make it to The City Ground on Tuesday night, Clarets Player HD has full match commentary from 7.30.
