Development Squad defender Alex Whitmore has joined Chester on a one-month youth loan, subject to paperwork.
The loan is the Geordie centre-half’s first spell away from Turf Moor since joining the Clarets as a Youth Team Scholar in 2012.
Whitmore, 20, will link-up with Steve Burr’s side in the fifth tier of the league pyramid immediately and could be in contention for tonight’s game against Dover at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.
And the second year professional can’t wait to get going.
Whitmore said: “It was an easy decision for me as soon as I got the call it was an instant ‘yes’ as it’s a great opportunity for me.
“I am yet to play my first competitive game, so obviously your first loan move is exciting and I can’t wait to get going and hopefully get some games under my belt.
“The last time I played for points was for the Youth Team and I’m excited to play alongside players who give everything, so it will be nice to add a real competitive edge to my game.
“I just want to impress everyone playing against experienced players and hopefully that can only look good in the eyes of Burnley.”
