The Development Squad are back in cup action this lunchtime against Morecambe in the Final Third Development League Cup.
A win in the 12pm kick-off would put the Clarets top of the group, following a 3-3 draw against Fleetwood Town and then a 4-1 victory over Bradford City 4-1 last month.
Fleetwood currently sit in top spot on goal difference, but the Cod Army will then have a game in hand over the Clarets, facing Bradford next month.
And Senior Professional Development Phase Coach Michael Jolley is hoping to put Monday’s derby defeat behind them with a win against the Shrimps.
He said: “The lads were obviously down and disappointed after the Blackburn defeat, but it’s good that another competitive game has come around quickly.
“It will be a good chance to perhaps to play some of the other players too and it’s a chance to put things right in another cup competition, hopefully do well and progress.”
