Barton Hails Dyche Ahead Of Brighton Visit

20 November 2015

Joey Barton has hailed the environment set by manager Sean Dyche ahead of Sunday’s Turf Moor clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 33-year-old midfielder joined on a free transfer in the summer and has played a key role in the Clarets seven-game unbeaten run.

And as they look to extend that against another side in scintillating form, Barton feels both himself and the club are benefitting from one of the best managers he has ever worked under.

He said: “I would honestly have to answer that he’s probably the best manager I’ve worked with.

“I really believe that his attention to detail, his man management and the way he goes about it means there is a very clear vision for how the wants us to operate.

“If you want to be successful at this football club, there is a clear path and a clear route that is communicated really well.

“It’s a really positive environment and I say this as someone who has had experiences to the contrary.

“It’s a place where all you have to focus on is turning in good performances and it’s been a breath of fresh air.

“I get out the car every morning delighted to be here and I feel incredibly humbled and privileged to be a part of that.”

Opponents Brighton & Hove Albion go into the game having set a new club record of 17 games without defeat after they beat MK Dons before the international break.

The televised encounter is likely to attract interest from the neutrals given both side’s lofty league positions.

But while Barton is quick to credit the work put in place by his former boss Chris Hughton, he insists it is just another game for the Clarets to try and pick up points from.

“The mentality we have is that it’s just another game. Brighton are on a great run and I know Chris really well.

“Everyone would have been shocked that someone has been able to go on such a long unbeaten run, owing to the nature of the competition and how dog eat dog it is.

“Great credit to Brighton as they have probably surprised a few teams but it’s another game and we’re keen on keeping our recent record going.”
