Sean Dyche hailed the Burnley fans after relegation from the Premier League was confirmed despite victory at Hull.
The Clarets boss joined his players on the pitch at full time to pay tribute to the travelling supporters, who stood to a man offered a standing ovation.
And Dyche insisted the fans had acted as role models for other clubs around the country in what has been a testing season.
He said: “I must mention the fans because they have been incredible this season. They have stood by us all the way through it, particularly in the early part of the season when we couldn’t get that win.
“When you look around the country there are fans going crazy at their team and I take great pride in how the fans here have conducted themselves all season.”
