Defender Cameron Dummigan made his long-awaited comeback from injury on Tuesday in a Development Squad fixture against Falkirk at Gawthorpe.
The Northern Ireland right back, 18, played for the first time since sustaining a groin injury in training back in September; an injury which required the 2012/13 Youth Team player of the year to undergo surgery.
And after completing lengthy rehab Dummigan, who was named on the bench for the opening day Premier League fixture against Chelsea, was given a 45 minute run-out in the behind-closed-doors game.
The Development Squad lost 9-1 to Falkirk’s first team, who were building up their preparations for their Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle next Saturday.
Jason Gilchrist scored the Clarets only goal, opening the scoring in the fifth minute before the Scottish Championship side ran out comprehensive winners.
Burnley: Mitchell; Dummigan (Trialist 46), Anderson, Trialist, Conlan; Jackson (Daly 77), Hewitt, Wilson, Lowe (Trialist 46); Massanka (Howieson 60), Gilchrist.
