Clarets defender Stephen Ward has been called into the Republic of Ireland squad for their forthcoming UEFA European Qualifier at home to Poland.
Ireland host Poland at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin on Sunday, March 29 (7.45pm).
And Ward, who missed the Clarets 2-0 defeat at Southampton at the weekend, has linked up with Martin O’Neill’s squad to be assessed ahead of their crucial Group D game against the leaders.
Ward joins England U21 duo Danny Ings and Michael Keane (England U21s), Sam Vokes (Wales) Danny Lafferty (Northern Ireland) and Cameron Howieson (New Zealand training camp) on international duty during the two-week domestic break.
The rest of the Burnley squad will spend the week warm-weather training in Spain ahead of their return to action at Turf Moor v Spurs on Saturday, April 4 (1.30pm).
