The Clarets Lottery has given away another £1,000 in the club’s Goalden Gamble half-time draw.
The draw took place during half-time at the match against Swansea City and the winning numbers were selected by Clarets legend Leighton James.
The lucky winner of the £1,000 Goalden Gamble jackpot was Peter Moorhouse, a life-long Clarets fan who attended his first match at the age of 11.
Peter makes the 520-mile round trip from his home in Suffolk to the majority of home games.
The winning Goalden Gamble ticket was purchased from one of the lottery department’s matchday sellers in the Bob Lord Stand.
Luckily, the last digit of Peter’s ticket matched the bonus ball number drawn earlier and so he scooped the full £1000 jackpot.
It wasn’t the first time Peter has won a ‘grand’ watching the Clarets, as a £100 bet of his turned into a £1,200 payout at match in 2007 after he correctly predicted that Burnley would a game and Robbie Blake would score the first goal!
Peter wasn’t the only one celebrating recently however, as the Lottery department celebrated reaching a fundraising milestone of its own.
Since the start of the season Burnley fans have been buying their Goalden Gamble tickets in their droves and the amount raised by the half-time draw has now passed the £12,000 mark.
Lottery administrator Caroline Fowler said: "This has been a phenomenal season in terms of our fundraising campaign for the youth teams at Burnley FC.
“We are grateful for our fans' growing enthusiasm and support for the Goalden Gamble half-time draw, and our other lottery draws, which are ensuring the continued development of our academy scholars”.
The next opportunity to win £1,000 will be at the match against Manchester City on Saturday, March 14. To be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is buy a Goalden Gamble ticket from our team of matchday sellers at Turf Moor.
Tickets are priced at £2 each with all funds raised being donated to the Burnley FC Academy.
