Burnley FC In The Community Celebrates First Birthday!

2 March 2015

Burnley FC in the Community is celebrating its 1st birthday this week!

And it's a story of incredible growth and remarkable achievement.

In just over 12 months, the charity has raised over £500,000 and with this has continued to develop and deliver a varied repertoire of projects and programmes, successfully engaging a staggering 10,000 people across the areas of Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale.

Investing in frontline provision across key themes, including sport and football development, health, social inclusion and education, the charity has enjoyed unprecedented growth in all areas.

Only 12 months on from its founding, the charity now proudly engages with over 100 disabled youngsters every week, 500 disadvantaged young people per week, has affiliations with over 40 local primary schools and a further  five secondary schools.

There are also plans in place for expansion into the Ribble Valley, Hyndburn and West Yorkshire.

In addition to this, Burnley FC in the Community now employs 20 individuals from the local area, with a further 5 full time staff members joining in March.

Lee Hoos, Chairman of Burnley FC in the Community and CEO of Burnley FC added: “I am extremely pleased with the great strides we have made within Burnley FC in the Community in just one year.

"We believe in a strong, vibrant, socially responsible community engagement platform that makes a genuine difference to the people of Burnley. We look forward to continuing and growing the work that we have started.”

Neil Hart, Head of Burnley FC in the Community, said; “We pride ourselves on being a forward-thinking charity with a true can-do attitude and I believe what we have achieved in the past year is a real reflection of that.

"We are celebrating a fantastic first year, but we have plenty of ambition to keep growing, to continue to make a positive impact in the local area and to have an even more successful 2015.”
