Etoile Carouge v Burnley
7pm kick-off local time (6pm UK)
Sean Dyche insists tonight’s friendly against Etoile Carouge is all about building up the fitness levels in pre-season.
The Clarets come up against the Swiss Third Division outfit at Stade de la Fontenette in their first warm-up fixture after a week of training in Evian.
And while the boss reaffirmed that his side will always go hard to win, it is more about getting valuable playing time into his squad at this squad.
Dyche said: “We’re not really looking result-bound tonight. It’s about the lads getting back out there and them having a feel for it.
“It’s the end of a week here. The easiest terminology is just getting your eye-in and reminding yourself of how it works in a positional sense and tactically.
“There is not going to be a massive amount of emphasis on the game. Everyone knows we play to win on every occasion but there is still is a time when we’re playing to learn to win if you like.”
Youngsters Steven Hewitt, Tom Anderson and Cameron Dummigan have all travelled with the squad and they too are likely to feature.
He added: “Most of the main first-team players will have 45 minutes maximum I would think and a couple of the younger players will play a bit longer.”
Burnley have a full complement to choose from against Etoile Carouge aside from long-term absentees Kevin Long, Dean Marney and Ashley Barnes.
New signing Jelle Vossen is ineligible as he is still awaiting international clearance to appear for the Clarets.
Clarets director John Banaszkiewicz will be at the Lady Godiva pub, 53, Boulevard du Pont d’Arve Plainpalais and there will be a free pint for everyone who attends.
Clarets fans can on the gate this evening and prices are as follows: CHF 10 (approx £7).
