Sean Dyche has expressed his delight that the £4.6m Gawthorpe redevelopment is finally set to get underway.
The club this week received final planning approval for the 73,000 m2 area, which will include new pitches and, crucially, the building of a dedicated new training centre to bring first class facilities for the first team, development squad and youth team players under one roof for the first time.
And Burnley boss Dyche feels the new build will help take the club to the next level.
He said: “It’s fantastic news. It has been a long time coming and we are thankful to all the governing bodies who have helped us with that, because that’s important as well.
“It gives the club a chance to begin the work and certainly in my thoughts the pitches will be ready hopefully by August, September time.
“The building and the actual structure will be longer than that, hopefully within about 18 months.
“But it gives the club a whole bigger feel and I think that’s and important thing.”
The club had sought permission to raise the standard of the facility to meet the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) Category 1 and 2 standard of infrastructure.
The new facilities will be designed by Nationwide Contractors, Developers and Investors, Barnfield Construction Limited and they will work closely with our pitch contractor, J Mallinson of Ormskirk.
