Mee: We Must Keep Improving

24 August 2015

Defender looks to build on first clean sheet

Ben Mee was delighted with a Clarets clean sheet after the 1-0 win over Brentford at Turf Moor.

Fellow defender Michael Keane got the only goal of the game with a header on 26 minutes, and the defence held firm to register a first victory of the season.

But while Mee insists that while the first clean sheet of the season is a foundation to build from, he says the squad know they must keep on improving.

“We know we need to keep on improving but it was nice to get the win and pick up three points.

“We want to get back to doing well defensively as we’ve conceded a few goals in the last few games and it’s always nice to get a clean sheet and respond.

“The lads have settled in really well and it’ll take a bit of time, we’ll keep improving the more we play together and we’ll look to get some more clean sheets and do as well as we have previously.

“I’m delighted for Keano, we’ve been practicing heading on a Friday in training so hopefully one will land on my head next week!”

The Clarets travel to Bristol City next weekend, who themselves will be buoyed by an away victory at Middlesbrough.

Mee added: “They’ve had a result against Middlesbrough but we’ll go there with confidence after our first win against Brentford and we’ll look to put on a performance like we have being doing.”
