Clarets skipper Tom Heaton has been named in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the second time for their European Championship qualifiers against San Marino and Switzerland.
Heaton, who earned his first senior call-up in May for away games against Ireland and Slovenia, became the first Burnley player to receive a call-up for England since Martin Dobson in 1974.
England boast a 100% record from their six qualification games so far, and two victories would confirm their place at the finals in France.
Hodgson’s men face San Marino in Serravalle on Saturday, September 5 before hosting Switzerland at Wembley on Tuesday, September 8.
Heaton is named as the only player outside of the Barclays Premier League in the latest squad and everyone at Burnley Football Club would like to congratulate our captain on his call-up.
