Tendayi Darikwa says the squad are relishing Capital One Cup action against Port Vale tonight as they look to build on an away point at Leeds.
The Clarets full-back made his competitive debut for the club at Elland Road and provided an inch-perfect cross for Sam Vokes to head home a late leveller.
After a solid start in the Sky Bet Championship, Darikwa insists that Sean Dyche’s side will now be going all out to progress in the cup.
Darikwa said: “I was really pleased to make my official debut for the football club and thankfully we didn’t lose the game.
“To concede that late, any other team could have surrendered the three points but we went down the other end and got the equaliser which is pleasing.
“It would have been to leave with the three points but with another game coming up so quickly we’re looking to progress into the next round of the cup.
“After the long slog in pre-season it’s nice to get competitive games so the Saturday/Tuesday so I think it’s great really.”
League One side Port Vale are familiar opposition for the former Chesterfield man and he is expecting a tough test from the trip to Stoke-on-Trent.
He added: “I think anyone would tell you that playing at Port Vale is a tough place to go and that will be no different tonight.
“We’ve got to be switched on and whichever team the gaffer picks will be going all out to win the game.
“It’s a new feeling for me going into a cup game as the team to beat really. Every cup game with Chesterfield we’ve been the ones looking for the scalp but we’ll be switched on and ready.”
