11 August 2015

Burnley FC in the Community are pleased to confirm Chris Andrews as the new Head Coach of the Burnley FC Shadow Youth Team.

Chris, pictured above, left, with Head of Community Neil Hart, joins the club from his previous role at Watford FC.

The Shadow Youth Team programme, delivered in partnership with Nelson and Colne College, will provide 16-17 year-old males with the opportunity to gain a first class education, while enhancing their football opportunities in a professional football club environment.

The programme will be based at Nelson and Colne College and will underpin the current Burnley FC Youth Team.

The team will play in the Premier League Football League, competing alongside other professional clubs such as Liverpool, Birmingham City and Coventry City.

The programme will retain young players who have ‘slipped through the net’ in playing terms and will provide all players with a BTEC Level 3 qualification in Sports Performance and Coaching, plus their Level 1 coaching badge.

However, it also provides all players with a solid foundation for the future.

Chris said; “I’m delighted to be here and I’m looking forward to forging strong links between Nelson and Colne College, Burnley FC in the Community and the Burnley FC Academy.

“It’s a really exciting time to be joining Burnley FC in the Community and supporting the club with player development.”

Neil Hart, Chief Executive Officer of Burnley FC in the Community said; “I’m really pleased to welcome Chris to the team. Chris comes with years of experience and a proven track record.

“This programme will provide a strong platform both educationally and in terms of football development for these young players, and on top of this we are working in partnership with Nelson and Colne College who are in the top 1% of schools and colleges nationally.”

Pre-season for the shadow squad will kick off week commencing Monday, August 17 and new trialists are welcome. For more information please contact Chris Andrews on
