The Youth Team are back in action on Saturday, September, 20 against Wigan Athletic (11am kick-off) in the North West Youth Alliance League at Nelson’s Victoria Park.
After a solid start of two wins and a draw, Terry Pashley’s side will be hoping to get back to winning ways after failing to earn maximum points in their past three outings.
The Clarets currently sit in eighth place in the league, but Youth Team coach Andy Farrell isn’t over-thinking too much about the start at this stage;
He said: “We have been impressed with how the first year and second year scholars have done so far. They have done well under pressure and in possession, got the ball into the final third terrifically but perhaps our downfall so far is that final cutting edge.
“We have 10 first and six second years in our group so it is a younger group than normal and our main objective is to make sure as many second years get that professional contract come the end of the campaign and for the first years to develop and catch our eye for next season.
“I’m not saying we don’t want to be up there come the end of the season but we are encouraged with the start the boys have had”.
