10 November 2014

Burnley Football Club’s grounds care team have been shortlisted for a high-profile award at this year’s Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG) Industry Awards.

The shortlisted finalists for the awards, which highlight the high standards of volunteer and professional groundsmanship, from grassroots to professional stadia level, will see the Clarets team go head to head for
the IOG Campey/Imants Professional Football Grounds Team of the Year Award with Manchester United.

All award finalists will now be visited and judged by industry experts, and the winners will be announced at the ceremony at stadium:mk. Milton Keynes, on Thursday 4th December.

And Head Groundsman Paul Bradshaw says he is delighted that the club have been recognised for their hard work.

He said: “It’s great that we’re up for this award against Manchester United as we try to maintain the highest possible standards for all of our pitches.

“It is testament to the work of myself and my four colleagues as we do work hard to keep the Turf Moor pitch, the four-hectare training ground at Gawthorpe and an indoor 3G synthetic surfaces in pristine
condition.

“We’ve been helped by promotion to the Premier League as that has meant an increase in budget for the installation of appropriate equipment.”

Everyone at Burnley Football Club would like to wish Paul and the team well for the awards!
