Double Nomination For Clarets

6 March 2014

Manager and striker shortlisted for monthly awards

Burnley boss Sean Dyche and striker Sam Vokes have received award nominations for their February performances in the SkyBet Football League.

Dyche is one of four candidates shortlisted for the Championship Manager of the Month, while Vokes is in the running for Championship Player of the Month.

The Clarets manager’s fourth nomination of the season, after being shortlisted in August, September and October, comes after his side remained unbeaten throughout the month.

Burnley amassed 11 points from five league games, including victories over Millwall, Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest and draws at QPR and Bournemouth.

And Dyche is now aiming to secure his third award of the season, after becoming the first manager in the club’s history to land the Manager of the Month gong twice in a row, in September and October.

His rivals for the award are Derby boss Steve McClaren, Wigan manager Uwe Rosler and Watford boss Giuseppe Sannino.

Also shortlisted for his efforts is Vokes, who enjoyed his most prolific month in front of goal in a Burnley shirt.

The Welsh international found the back of the net on five occasions, including two goals at Loftus Road, the winner at the Reebok Stadium and his second brace of the month against Nottingham Forest.

Vokes will be looking to see off competition from Derby full-back Craig Forsyth, Leeds’ striker Ross McCormack and Blackburn goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

Both Dyche and Vokes will find out whether they have won their respective awards when the winners are announced at 6am on Friday March 7.
