Big Preview: Charlton v Burnley

21 March 2014

Charlton v Burnley
The Valley
22/3/13 (Kick-off 3pm)
Overview:
Burnley will look to stretch their unbeaten run in the league to 15 games at the Valley. The Clarets go in to the match sitting in second place in the Championship table, 10 points clear of third placed Derby County.
Opponents Charlton are battling for survival at the opposite end of the table. A poor run of form saw Chris Powell’s reign at the Addicks come to an end last week, and was soon replaced by former Standard Liege number two José Riga. The new boss recorded his first win for his Athletic in a last gasp 1-0 win over Bournemouth midweek, and they will be looking to capitalise on that victory in this weekend’s fixture.

Last Five Matches:
BURNLEY: WWWDW
CHARLTON: LLDDW

Charlton Star Man: Simon Church
The striker is the Addicks top scorer this season with a return of eight goals. Church is well established in the Championship having enjoyed a promotion season with previous club Reading in 2012. The striker scored 24 goals in six years for the Royals before signing for Charlton last summer. The Welshman is an international colleague of Burnley’s Sam Vokes, earning 25 caps and scoring twice for his country.
