Chairmen's Club Update

18 June 2014

Sean Dyche signs new contract, as revealed in open letter to fans from Co-Chairmen

Dear fellow Clarets,

With the announcement today of the Premier League fixtures bringing the start of next season ever closer, we thought it was a good time to update our supporters on developments at the club and our preparations for our next adventure in the most popular and successful football division in the world.
With the noise generated by the World Cup it would be easy to get the impression that the rest of the football industry has ground to a temporary halt. But rest assured, we at the club are working 24/7 to have everything in place, from our playing staff to facilities, in time for the start of the coming season.
We know that every Clarets player will wear the shirt with pride as we go up against some of the biggest clubs in the world and are working hard to identify the most suitable transfer targets to be assets for the club in the long term.

We are hoping that we only make headlines once deals are done and we will do everything we can to be discreet and limit the rumour-mill, which can be detrimental when seeking and signing players.
On the subject of key signings we are very pleased to announce that we have agreed new and improved contracts with Sean Dyche and his staff and we thank them all for their hard work.

This is in addition to the other key 'signings' we have already made in securing the services of some of our current players under new contracts, including, of course, Kieran Trippier and Danny Lafferty.
We will continue to invest in the recruitment, sports science and scouting that has been so important to us over the years, to ensure we continue to build on this prolific pipeline of players into the future.
John met Greg Dyke at the League Managers Association dinner last month, where Sean narrowly missed on the manager of the year award, and he joked that Burnley's promotion will certainly be a boost to his campaign to increase the proportion of English talent playing in the Premier League next season!
We are in the process of upgrading facilities at Turf Moor as part of our Premier League obligations and also to deliver better facilities for the fans.

Part of these plans include making the ground a more intimidating place for visitors and we are working on ideas to help generate a big atmosphere and help give the team a boost.

We are also improving facilities for the playing and coaching staff at Gawthorpe, where we are looking to develop more pitches for our current and future players.
We are particularly pleased that the sales of season tickets have continued in good volume, with limited availability remaining. We strongly believe that we are one of the best value grounds in the country, especially with such an exciting season to come.

We also know that once the whistle blows on August 16th for our first game against Chelsea, the fans will get behind the team and the club and give us their full support.
We remain very proud of being associated with a local club - something that means so much to the town and the community we are associated with. We have fans around the world like many clubs, but ours are true supporters with roots in Burnley and ties to the region.

That gives us the base to flourish and grow, attract new fans as we progress through the season. Part of the reason we did so well last season was being underestimated by the opposition. In many ways we would like that to continue. We are a small club but we have a lot to shout about and your support home and away can make a difference in games that look tough on paper.

The board understands clearly that we need to maintain communication with all fans once the season gets underway and to ensure that this is a two-way street.

Your feedback and input have already helped to shape how we operate and we think we can do much more by tapping into local expertise, passion and talent.

Thank you again for your continued support and loyalty.

Let's enjoy the summer and look forward to an exciting season for the club, the players and the fans.

Remember, it's our town, our turf and our time!
