Burnley Football Club is delighted to announce it will host a regional forum as the FA consult on addressing Asian inclusion across grassroots football.
The national initiative aims to boost the number of homegrown Asians playing and coaching at both grassroots level and in the professional game.
And Turf Moor is proud to be selected to host one of the discussions, on Thursday, September 18.
“We are delighted the FA have chosen to hold one of their consultation events at Burnley FC,” said Neil Hart, Head of Community at Burnley FC.
“The community department within the club is developing a range of inclusive programmes which will engage not only with the Asian communities in the town, but with every community, so we are delighted to be supporting this event.
“I would certainly urge the Asian communities of Burnley and the surrounding areas to come along to this event and share your views,” he added.
It was announced in October 2013 that the FA would step up their recruitment drive.
FA inclusion projects co-ordinator Kevin Coleman said: “There are some specific targets around Asians in football."
When asked if it were likely to result in more players from this ethnic group involved in the professional game, Coleman said: "Yes, we will. That isn't our key objective but we think that should be the end game.
"So, for example, if we have more young people playing in development centres, you have more coaches and referees and you have more people working in the game, you should see players then go through academies and then into the professional game."
