Welsh Call For In-Form Vokes

24 February 2014

Clarets striker Sam Vokes has been included in the Wales squad for the upcoming friendly fixture against Iceland in Cardiff on Wednesday, March 5.

The Welsh International, who has 30 caps for his country, has been in red hot form of late, scoring a career best total of 18 league goals for Burnley so far this season.

Two of those came in Saturdays 3-1 impressive victory over Nottingham Forest, which took the striker's tally to eight in nine games in 2014.

And the Clarets Number nine, who has scored five times for Wales, will be looking to add to that tally in the match against Iceland.

News of this call up comes a day after Chris Coleman’s side were drawn in a group with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Belgium, Israel, Cyprus and Andorra for the upcoming Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.
