Clarets striker reveals the squad are full of confidence ahead of Bolton clash
Sam Vokes believes the Burnley squad are full of confidence as they prepare for Tuesday night’s Lancashire derby at the Reebok Stadium.
The Clarets go into the game in second place in the Championship, having produced a top performance to see off Millwall last weekend.
Burnley now face two away games in five days, with the visit to Bolton followed by a long trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.
However, Vokes is targeting more wins to keep the pressure on their rivals.
The Welsh striker said: “We are going there full of confidence from the weekend.
“It will be tough but there is a great chance for us to go there and beat them.
“Even if we go behind in games we know we have the strength to come back and win the game.
“We’ve had a great away following this year and it will be nice for us to get a win on Tuesday.”
Burnley’s impressive form this season has been largely helped by the goalscoring exploits of Vokes and his strike partner Danny Ings.
The prolific duo have notched 39 goals in all competitions this season - and Vokes is hoping for many more in the coming weeks and months!
He added: “It’s going well and hopefully we get a few more.
“We play well together, work hard for each other and produce different types of goals.”
“I don’t set goal targets, but we will just keep chipping away and get as many as we can.”
