The Youth Team start their 2014/15 Youth Alliance campaign today against Blackpool at Padiham’s Abories Memorial Sports Ground (11am Kick-off).
The season was scheduled to commence on Friday, August, 2 against Oldham Athletic but that fixture has now been pushed back to Saturday, March, 28.
Following an impressive 5-0 victory against Preston North End and a narrow 2-1 defeat against senior side Nelson, Terry Pashley’s men start with a tough challenge against last season’s champions Blackpool.
Burnley are without Spanish goalkeeper Tony Aghayere as he still awaits his international clearance. That means Conor Mitchell starts in between the sticks behind right back, Waqas Azam who is entering his second year scholarship, while first years Vashiko Dixon, Shaun Hobson and Andy Nugent joins the Burnley-born defender in the back four.
In midfield the regular faces of Bradley Jackson, Brandon Wilson and Christian Hill are welcomed alongside new recruit, Haman El-Fitouri.
Burnley will start with two tall, powerful strikers in Ntumba Massanka and former Manchester United youngster, Joshua Dolling.
15-year olds Mark Howarth and Connor King start the season on the bench as first year’s Lewis Norvock and Jamal Crawford sit alongside them.
