Preview: Burnley vs Celta Vigo

4 August 2014

Burnley face their penultimate pre-season test on Tuesday evening as they welcome Spanish side Celta Vigo to Turf Moor.

Dyche’s men ran out 1-0 winners against Blackpool on Saturday as a sweetly-struck Marvin Sordell goal secured victory in a dominant display.

Sordell started the game partnered by Ashley Barnes up front at Bloomfield Road and Steven Reid made his first appearance for the club as Dyche made changes to ensure everyone got precious minutes under their belt.

Sam Vokes and Michael Kightly remain longer term absentees for the Celta clash but the Clarets are likely to be boosted by the return of stopper Tom Heaton after recovering from a minor calf complaint.

Opponents Celta Vigo played two local fixtures before heading to England on tour and Os Celestes came from behind to draw 2-2 with Championship side Norwich City on Friday evening in their first pre-season fixture on these shores.

Danish international Michael Krohn-Dehli played in striker Nolito, who finished with aplomb to pull one back for Eduardo Berizzo’s side.

And after Joaquin Larrivey had hit the post, Krohn-Dehli levelled the scoring with a strike from distance to complete the Carrow Road comeback.

The Spaniards, who finished 9th in La Liga last season, then travelled to Molineux on Saturday and drew 1-1 with Wolverhampton Wanderers in a fiesty encounter as Larrivey’s goal cancelled out Nouha Dicko’s opener.
