That's All Vokes!

30 April 2014

Striker Sam is the fans' favourite on awards night.

Burnley striker Sam Vokes was the big winner at Tuesday’s triumphant end of season supporters’ awards.

The Welshman received five votes for the Player of the Year Award from the various supporters’ club branches, who packed into Turf Moor to hand over their annual awards.

Other players to scoop awards were club captain Jason Shackell and top Scorer Danny Ings, with two awards each while winger Scott Arfield, full-back Kieran Trippier and keeper Tom Heaton also received one award.

The news that the fans’ Player of the Year accolades were shared out is another marker of what has been a momentous season for Sean Dyche’s squad.

With 26 awards handed out, it gave fans, players and staff alike the opportunity to re-live and celebrate many of the key moments of the promotion success.

Elsewhere, club legend Ian Britton, whose goal saved the club from relegation out of the Football League in 1987, was also recognised with a Special Award.

And Ticket Office Manager Elaine Clare received The Janice Fretwell Memorial Trophy for outstanding staff achiever.
