Burnley Football Club hosts a very special reunion this weekend, as we welcome back former defender Gary Parkinson.
Gary is back at Turf Moor for the first time since suffering a devastating stroke in 2010, which left the stricken defender with ‘Locked-In Syndrome’.
And Gary, who famously scored the winning goal for the Clarets in the 1994 Play-Off final at Wembley, will be joined on the pitch by the other goalscorer on that glorious day, David Eyres.
The two ex-Clarets are reuniting to make the half time draw and highlight Gary’s ongoing battle to resume a normal life following his debilitating illness.
Gary made his first public appearance since the stroke in the reverse fixture between his former clubs at Middlesbrough over the festive season.
And we’re sure everyone inside Turf Moor will give Gary a rousing return as we wish him and his family all the very best for the future.
A reminder that kick off on Saturday is 3.07pm, as we pay our respects to those who died in the Hillsborough disaster ahead of kick off.
